Hi,
I've installed Monox before on different servers, but am having a problem with the version from 6/2013 on a different server.
Server 2008 R2 SP1 Enterprise.

I can get SQL Express installed and Monox installed and it lets me go through the Monox configuration pages.  However, once I get to the "click here to access your website" section and click the link, I get a Server Error in Application and Runtime error.  After turning OFF customer Errors I get:

Server Error in '/Test2' Application.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

We have tested few scenarios and didn't find any issues, can you let us know if you have installed the MonoX without the demo data ?

Thanks

Yes, I installed it without the demo data and did some advanced settings such as having more extensions recognized than just the .aspx and .html.  I customized in the advanced settings to have it also recognize .cshtml and .php.  Would that have anything to do with it?

I will try a plain install in a few minutes without customizing anything to see if that does anything different.

If it helps, I have SQL Server 2008 R2 install on the server and the server is a domain controller server 2008 enterprise sp1.  I have Monox installed on another domain controller (a server 2003 one) so I'm not sure why that would matter, but just making sure you have all of the details.

I will let you know if not customizing anything helps or not.
Thanks!

Hi,

can you please send us the advance settings for .cshtml & .php so we can check that, and installing MonoX on two DCs doesn't matter.

Please try the plain install and get back to us.

Thanks

Here are the settings I originally changed in the Monox Advanced Settings screen:
Navigation Extensions:
    added - .cshtml and .php
Checked the box for Enable SSL
How long (in days) to keep the content cached in the client's browser
    set to 0
Checked the box for Show detailed errors for non administrator users
Checked the box for Allow web part close function
Added the Role/Group MIS to each of the permissions categories and made sure Administrators was on each as well.  Left default user role to be Users.
Unchecked the box for Show Blog Avatars
--------------
Now, I just rebooted the server again (which I had done twice yesterday while testing) and reinstalled several times trying first a clean install (which worked!) and then trying changing settings a few at a time.  It all worked fine this time.

I don't know what the problem was yesterday?  The last test I did just now, I tried it with every setting I had originally tried yesterday and it works now, but didn't work yesterday.  I didn't do anything differently today than I did yesterday and it magically works.  I guess we can chalk it up to a magic fix. :)

Thanks for looking into this with me!  Maybe the server just wanted to rest overnight after installing SQL Server 2008 yesterday.  haha

Yes, give a server a good nigh sleep and it'll appreciate it :) ... So I suppose this was a server/environment issue.

Thanks for clearing this up, I'll let our QA team know that they can stop pursuing this.
