Hello,

I was wondering, is there a way to customize the LoginRpx web part in terms of style (css, images) in the iframe section? I know that it comes dynamically from janrain site, but is there a way to customize it? Being more specific, I would like to use small 32px x 32px icons for the login providers (facebook etc.)

Thank you in advance,
P.

Hi,
There is no way to do it if you are using their free service, as Janrain is preventing users to do that on purpose. Users of their commerical services can do it, either via the Janrain control panel, or using some custom code for greater flexibility. As this doesn't come cheap (if I remember correctly their rates for this type of service starts at $100 per month), we are looking into other options. It appears that SocialAuth.net (an open source package, not a service) offers pretty much the same options for major social networks (they do not have so many providers included by default, though), and we will be integrating it as a main provider in the next version.

We planned it for this month, but it will be postponed for a month or two to introduce features such as this. We might describe the SocialAuth solution in an earlier blog post.

Even if the functionality is still being created, or bugs worked through, can we still expect at least a Roadmap to be published this month?
Is it just the final production release date that you are pushing back a month or two? or is it the availability of a beta that you are pushing back to Sept. or Oct. ?
Is there anything we would need to do to be included in a beta 'program'? or will it just be downloadable by all once available?

You just need to let us know that you want to be included in the beta program. At the moment, it is not very formal, and we are just sending links to the new beta releases to the people on the list every 2-3 months. This frequency will rise as the deadline for the new release approaches.

I think, it would be great if monoX developing team starts a forum / discussion topic something like "Roadmap for monoX next release" along with the scheduled firm release date.

As monoX team mentioned that new version will be released in August, 2012 but now it is little disappointing to know that it is being delayed for a month or two. It makes this disappointing because this information is not provided clearly which means all the users of monoX are not on the same page due to the unclear information about future released / roadmap on the monoX website.

In order to make this website more community driven , we as monoX users need to know when new releases are due, what features are being added up / bug fixes in upcoming version like a roadmap.

It is very difficult to keep up with the monoX project when the development team keep all the information to themselves.

I love monoX project because of its funtionality and it is an open source project. But the development team need to understand that there could be users that might have plans for working on monoX based websites.

It is very difficult to keep up to date with monoX released when complete information is not provided to us and we need to keep an eye on each n every forum. I was asking about new released here (since a long time): HERE

I was directed here because of MZILIC user, if he would have never directed me here, i would have neven knew about this news just because clear information is not available by the development team (as i have mentioned in the other discussion topic too)

So I request the development team to PLEASE please in future provide us clear information with your future plans and a list of next release roadmap, because any unclear information might affect monoX users in different ways.

A separate topic for roadmap of next release would be great where monoX users can request features and provide feedback based on which the development team can decide what features are important and most-demanded features so that they can be implemented in the next release.

We are always listening what our users have to say. Sometimes it makes us look bad, as deadlines get missed while we are trying to implement the functionality requested by other users. Nevertheless, I like the idea of a separate forum or at least a sticky thread with announcements and users' feedback, and I'll make sure that it becomes a reality. This will be the first step to the more transparent publishing process, and it will happen over the course of the next week.

Thank you mzilic and denis for your prompt reply. I am looking forward to see the roadmap of monoX next release and the ETA / approx date of release.

For future, you should also consider the option to make the monoX project available on codeplex.

Majority of ASP.NET open source projects are on codeplex where you as a development team can create work items for each requested features and monoX users can vote for it.

nopCommerce. Open source shopping cart (ASP.NET MVC) is a great example for this: http://nopcommerce.codeplex.com/workitem/list/advanced

Nopcommerce team also create a separate topic for roadmap for the next release along with the release date like this: http://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/t/16301/nopcommerce-260-roadmap-lets-discuss.aspx

Adapting a similar pattern will def. make monoX website more community driven and will keep all the monoX users on the same page.
