We might have a slight misunderstanding here - MonoX is free, but is not an open source project, and currently there are no plans to change its status. There will be some new developments on the MVC front, and we may go that way with it, but the current version of MonoX will stay as is.

Thanks for the clarification denis, I was under the impression that monoX is an open source project (my bad). But still i think (like i mentioned in my previous post) for codeplex, i think development team should consider that option. Codeplex allows the development team to create work items and users can vote for it. Changeset features allows users to see the updated code with highlighted lines which makes any project very user friendly.

I am glad that monoX team is thinking about launching MVC version in future and making it an open source project. Making it an open source project will def attract more users towards monoX project for CMS solution.

Any way of moving from upcoming monoX webform version to future MVC version will be a great help in order to upgrade monoX websites who wants to keep up with the monoX new released because eventually i think MVC has a better future as compared to webforms and MVC will have more support available.

I like the idea of a separate forum or at least a sticky thread with announcements and users' feedback, and I'll make sure that it becomes a reality. This will be the first step to the more transparent publishing process, and it will happen over the course of the next week.

Denis,
Since you might be a separate forum or a sticky thread for road map of new monoX version this week. It would be great if you could include an ETA for the release date so that we all can make up our minds and can make important decisions regarding the website releases / update.

Even if you don;t have an exact release date, an approximate date would be great (like 1st week, 2nd week, last week of a specific month or something like that)

This is exactly the problem is with the support with monoX and related news / updated. I am sorry but when monoX users are waiting for you regarding some information, no one from the support team bother to reply back or comment on it which leaves the monoX users in dark. This is exactly what I have been complaining about here in these forums since a long time about the news / updated regarding monoX.

Why a user will user will stick with monoX when no support is available ? As a monoX user I am not asking for any service that requires a lot of time and effort. We only want to know the news / updates for monoX but why it takes such a long time to even provide this information ?

Denis, you mentioned that this week, something will be available regarding the roadmap for next version but no information has been updated / posted ?

This is kinda frustrating to see and makes us think why we should stay with monoX when this kinda late support is available with late deadlines when other projects are available with full development support and a lot of information and active communities.

I know as a users, I am free to use any .NET project but why monoX support team don't understand that the way things are going with the monoX project makes users frustrated when no information is available from the support team.

MonoX support team, Please try to think from a user's side PLEASE !!!

Denis you mentioned:
Sometimes it makes us look bad, as deadlines get missed while we are trying to implement the functionality requested by other users.
Yes, it does look bad - the situation becomes worst and more annoying when as a monoX user we see no improvement from the support team in order to make things better.

I am not complaining about the project, the monoX project is a great program and we all appreciate that it is available for free and nobody should complaint about a free product when a lot of development work and time has been invested on it. The problem is news / updated, if you are not updating and releasing no new version, just mention it and make things clear. All we want it FIRM and CLEAR INFORMATION. It is anoying when as a monoX user, we are in dark and have no information what's gonna happen in future and when new version is coming out. For eg. Even if new version is not coming out untill next 1 year, just mention it so that we won't wait and make our plans accordingly. But what if we invest 100s of hours on customizing the project and lauch or complete a project and what if next day you release the new version with same functionality that we invested hours to customize ? It will be annoying.. why ? because information was NEVER available from support team that next version is coming up so and so date with so and so list of features.

I hope you understand by my example, how it can be frustrating.

I cannot agree with many of the things you mentioned in this post, and could spent hours discussing it - however, after posting hundreds of answers on this and related forums, I don't think it would be too objective :)
Here is how it looks from our end:
- 100% of the priority support topics are answered within 24 hours. I would say that more than 99% of all other posts are being answered within that timeframe also. We are regularly having guided Skype sessions, even with the users of free version.
- sometimes it takes longer to answer when additional sample code needs to be written, or a new infrastructure needs to be created.
- in this particular case, it actually takes some time and effort to create the environment (or decide which commercial service to use) where users will be able to discuss the features, maybe vote for them, download the nightly builds, etc.
- I have already said that we will provide you with the separate facility to publish such information this week, even if that would not be the final version of that facility. Today is Wednesday - I think that we are still on schedule.

The roadmap has been published. We are now automating the publish and feedback process for intermediary releases.
