Hi

I am working on translating the resources in the database.

But when the text is marked up with html tags it gives an error when I save the translation.

Is there another way to translate the resources?

I know about the resx files, but I can´t find the option in the Portal
localization management section to import them to the database.

Please look at the image attached.

Thanks

Hi Helene,

we have tried to reproduce the issue you are facing and we couldn't. Can you please send us the MonoX error log files so we can investigate the issue. You can find the error log files on "/MonoX/ApplicationData/Logs/*.*".

Also note that resx files can be used only in custom Web application development scenario (When you work with VS 2008 / 2010 and you add your own resx files then you can import them with the MonoX administration).

Hi Helene,

you can find more information regarding the localization on these two links:

http://www.mono-software.com/Blog/post/Mono/12/MonoX-Localization/
http://www.mono-software.com/Downloads/#MonoX - download MonoX User Manual and navigate to "Managing localization settings" section.

Hi Khorvat and Imarusic

You are still working? ;)

Thanks for your fast answer.

I hope that you mean that I should attach the log file here!?

I´ll look at the links you provided but maybe you can see what´s wrong in the log file.

I am thinking that it could be some write permission to the server......is that posible do you think?

Hi,

the error that is stopping you from saving resource changes is:

2011-03-23 15:38:59,273 [29] ERROR MonoX [Admin] - Error
System.Web.HttpRequestValidationException (0x80004005): A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (ctl00$cp$txtResourceValue="Hej <i>{0}</i>, this is ...").
   at System.Web.HttpRequest.ValidateString(String value, String collectionKey, RequestValidationSource requestCollection)
   at System.Web.HttpRequest.ValidateNameValueCollection(NameValueCollection nvc, RequestValidationSource requestCollection)
   at System.Web.HttpRequest.get_Form()
   at System.Web.HttpRequest.get_HasForm()
   at System.Web.UI.Page.GetCollectionBasedOnMethod(Boolean dontReturnNull)
   at System.Web.UI.Page.DeterminePostBackMode()
   at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint)

To pin point the exact problem can you please post the new localized message that you are trying to save, and then we will provide you with a solution ?

Hi Helene,

maybe the best way to do it will be translation in the Excel file. In the last few years our customers has reported that fastest way to translate a large amount of resources is by translating it in Excel (they know how to use the environment etc.). So what I can propose is that we send you a Excel file with all MonoX resources after you translate all of them (or some of them) we can sync and import the resources in the MonoX. After we do so we can send you a MonoX version with your resources built-in.

Is this an option for you ?

Hi khorvat.

Thanks for the offer but is there any other options?

Is it possible to open the resource files and translate them in Visual Studio?
Where are they saved?

Am I the only one having problems translating the resources in the database?
Have I done someting wrong somewhere?

Hi,

to answer all of your questions:

Is it possible to open the resource files and translate them in Visual Studio?
Where are they saved?

MonoX package is compiled and prepared for usage so resource files aren't saved they are compiled. To overcome this issue we have prepared a Localization solution inside the package where you can load them and translate. You can find the localization solution here "/MonoX/Samples/Solution/LocalizationSolution/" where you can open a "LocalizationSolution.sln" and start translating them. To deploy them you need to copy compiled resource assemblies to "bin" folder. (Sorry I didn't know that you want to use Visual Studio for translation).

Am I the only one having problems translating the resources in the database?

DB resource provider is a provider that we recommend in scenarios where the whole Web application (site) is dynamically created. If you have any custom development involved than we recommend the resource provider as appropriate one. So please use resource provider and resource files in the above location to translate to your language.

Have I done someting wrong somewhere?

No you haven't but if you want to pursue the issue you are facing with DBResourceProvider you need to provide us with the localized "Text" that you have tried to save but error has stopped you.
