Khorvat,

I just downloaded the monox nightly build from here and it is not complete project and it only includes "Bin" and MonoX" folder. (Total 2.27MB only)

Could you please upload complete monox project (that comes with new theme) ?

Khorvat,

thank you, the new design looks great and very nicely designed layout.

1) I do see a few incomplete things in the designs, does that mean everything will be completed (in design) in official release since today Nov 15 is the release date ?

2) Today is the official release date, right (which was delayed from Oct 29 to Nov 15) ?

3) When are you going to add the latest monx version on demo site ?

We are having some administrative issues with Microsoft Web Gallery, and these will require a few additional changes. In any case, the new design is finished and ready to be merged with the main project. We are working towards a goal of fixing everything for the release version, and we will let you know as soon as it is published.

With all due respect...because the development team spend their time in development and provide free project to users.

I brought this topic here (where denis agreed that releases get delayed) and now again I am forced to say this....

Its very disappointing that monox team doesn't care about releasing releases on time.

4.7 released is being delayed continuously

1) 1st deadline - new version will be released in August, 2012 - official release delayed
2) 2nd deadline - delayed for a month or two - official release delayed
3) 3rd deadline - End of Oct 29, planned new theme at the last moment - official release delayed
4) 4th deadline - Nov 15, theme work is not completed - official release delayed
5) 5th deadline - More delay because of admin issue for Microsoft web gallery - official release delayed

Still there is no firm date from monox team for the 4.7 official release...

This non-professional way of providing updates forces us being a monox user that "Why I should stay with monox ?" when deadlines are never met and false promises are being made.

It also seems like monox team is more busy in providing paid services support (which I agree, after all you need something back for spending your time) rather than supporting this project.

Monox team decided to provide this monox as free project so being a user, we do expect new releases and bug fixes and enhancement which I agree requires time but why team makes false promises when deadlines are never met ?

MonoX team needs to understand that users like us (who are in development) may be losing money because of your false promises.

For example: How team will feel if you have made a promise to public that you will provide new 4.5 version of monox by end of this month (based on Microsoft commitment) - because of which you buy some new machines etc to work on and later at the end moment, what if microsoft says, we have delayed to delay the release for next 4 to 5 months ?

If team cannot keep up with the promises / commitments then please DO NOT make any...because when you give us a date.. we look forward to it and at the end there is no news / update from you.

The frustrating part is.. even when deadline is not met no one from the development team says anything or post anything like we have delayed the project and nobody knows about the delayed deadline unless we as a user ASK you a question about what happened to the release.

Also...if any user ask the question, how you expect other users to know about the news ? you never post anything on your blog about delayed deadline or anything and you expect each user to search whole forum to see if project has been delayed or released..

Seems like team do not want to post any delayed topic on blog because to the public nobody wants to show that this project is being delayed again n again for new releases.

I am quite sure that because of all these false promises, monox might lose some users (including me).

Still there is no update from the team...and 4.7 official release is up in the air....

I am sorry monox team, but your false promises and lack of support / updates does make users like us frustrated...which you understand but still try to not to give preference / importance...if you really care about user's opinion / feedback, you would have launched the 4.7 version back in Aug 2012 .....

I am sorry for your frustration. Yes, we have delayed this release on several occassions, mostly to include the features requested by our users. On the other hand, you have been very vocal with your requests, and make it sound like nothing has ever been done to satisfy any of user requests in the meantime, which we both know is not true.
Even as a free user, you are welcome to raise any critical issues that may cause financial or any other issues in your projects. We are not aware of any such issues in your case, and it appears that all your problems will be solved by the new release. As I said last time, we will notify you as soon as it is published.

Super, you make this sound much worse than it is. I am also using their free version, and have nevertheless received an interactive remote support session when I had some problems caused by me not being very experienced with MonoX, a patch that I requested, and several code examples. Call me crazy, but this is much more than I expected... I didn't saw that level of support in many commercial packages.
If you have any specific problems, just go ahead and ask.
PS I didn't even had to post to this forum earlier, all of my problems were solved directly. I just wanted to show some appreciation for the great service they are providing.

Just to reiterate what the previous guy said. I am a priority support user - went for it for a larger scale project after a great year-long experience with the free version. There are some advantages of this status, and I am probably a bit guilty for the delays due to our requests ;) In any case, I am not sure that all of us share your opinions - I for one do not agree with everything you've said. I've been through longer delays with much more established products, and their service and communication were nowhere close to what Mono team provides.

Denis,
I am not saying that you are neglecting the project and not proving support at all.
Since you are a developer and know how development works, you should understand that there could be a chance that other developers might be dependent on your project - If you make a project like monox available to public for free and say that we will be providing support and newer versions.

Denis said: Yes, we have delayed this release on several occasions, mostly to include the features requested by our users.

Yes, I know and I appreciate that you consider user's feedback / comments but deadlines should be announced AFTER the requested features by the users. The systematic was of running the project is to set a timeline that between this -to- this date, all the features / comments will be added in upcoming release. Alll the feedback / comments / bug fixes reported after certain time will be considered for new / another release. You need to understand that a free project available publicly will obviously get feedback / comments from users all the time but it is not possible to add / meet those requests in one single release - it is impossible to satisfy everybody 100%. This whole delaying in the releases reflects that no proper system is being followed in estimating the timeline for the next release which changes the release date all the time without any notification (which is another non-user friendly thing - No updates / prior notifications).

Situations where I am getting effected with the delayed project and any other developer can get affected:

1) If I planned a website launched based on monox, announced the release publicly (based on date given by you) - Project got delayed, which make other developers like me looks strange publically when deadlines are are not met.

2) If any developers takes a project from any client who likes a customized CMS and developer chooses monox because its a great CMS project and social networking project as well.. developer make changes based on client's requirements and launches the website. Later in future client asks the developer to add more features and developer see that monox team is releasing the same features in next version and modifying a few things in structures etc. So, developer wait for new release and then he/she will start customizing, and notifies client that lets postpone this (because there is no point of customizing, adding feature when there is a chance of change in structure / feature in original project - it is better to see what new release has to offer then go forward based on that). The new version is never released and deadlines keeps on getting delayed and client don't understand development and says.. you don't know what you are doing - who loses project ? The Developer....

3) When you say something in public - you will release new version on certain date - you need to understand that public will believe that because you are the developer of original project. If deadline is missed once, twice but around 4 to 5 times - why anybody should not move on to other project and believe the team when no deadline was met until now regarding new releases ?

4) You never post anything on your blog about delayed deadline or anything and you expect each user to search whole forum to see if project has been delayed or released.. - Do you think this is the right way ?

Its the same thing - You plan to buy a house from someone - the original owner of house lists the house for sale on certain date and you apply for house loan, you start looking for job near that place, you start looking and planning to relocate to that area, you start telling people: family & friends that we are buying this house in this location and when the day is here to pay the money and sign the contract - the original owner of the house says "I am not ready for selling the house - you need to wait but I don't know the exact date when I will be ready next time to sell the house".

Now I hope you understand what I mean and how it feels on the other side being a monox user ?

Like I mentioned above,,, I NEVER said that you don't provide help / support to users - the whole conclusion of my above post was that - If you cannot meet deadlines on time then PLEASE do not make false promises / statements - That's all - Because based on statements here publicly can make monox users make decisions based on the dates you give and when WITHOUT any notification project gets delayed - all the users looking forward and waiting for new releases gets screwed !!!

Now, please tell me if I said anything wrong or incorrect here ? you don't agree with what I said or explained here ?
