Most recent estimate given(a few months ago) was "late September".

If the end of the month arrives and they are not ready to release it, they will likely post an update.

Super, if you are still following this thread...
If you couldn't tell from my reply to your initial post of this thread, I had optimism abound at that time.    I felt that although they were not blogging about their progress with MonoX on a monthly basis, they had sufficiently responded to inquiries about the product's progress.    I absolutely cannot come up with any ideas though for what their motivation might be to have such little communication with their user community recently on the state of development.   I'm not going to make any derogatory statements, or attempt to make any assumptions in this regard.    I will say that I am about at the point of being extremely discouraged, as I am guessing you are, as perceived by the tone of your most recent updates to this thread.

Here is a summary of what I gather is the sum of their communication to the community in regards to anything MonoX 5.x...
--Beta 1 announcement nine months ago on 02/03/2014
--reply to forum discussion post 6 mo ago, projecting release in Sept 2014.
--update four months ago that they are working on an MVC product, along side MonoX.

So much goes through my mind on how I'd like to talk them into seeing how wrong it is to communicate so little, but then I remind myself that the product is free.
That being said.... I've been involved in communities around more .Net apps than I could count and never before seen such little communication.    I've seen hugely more communication between a products' creators and user community even in situations where it was KNOWN that development on the particular app was being stopped!    To see such a void around a product that is(based on the trickle of info seen in nightly build notes) "still being worked on" just blows my mind.    Check out Orchard if you haven't already( http://www.orchardproject.net/ ).   Works well and is expanding every day.
cheers.

Yes, I am still following the thread and I 100% agree with you on this.

My posts were deleted before about my feedback as team does not want any users commenting negative feedback here. I understand team can be busy providing support to paid users but again I agree with you. If a product is released as "free to use", it should not be left behind just because it is "free to use". There could be many users following the product and depends on it.

I did contact Denis about the ETA, he said current target date is around Dec 22 (which I feel it very late), he also mentioned that team will publicly announce the ETA but they never did (which is not a surprise).

Yes Orchard is a good CMS and I have tried it, they release new versions very frequently and provide a great support. I have moved a lot of my project sites to other CMS because this whole lack of communication (and releases) of  monox project.

Hi guys,
we are willing to admit that there were delays in communication with the users of the free version, and this is going to change with the next release, introduction of our new site along with a completely new product. However, I want to point out to a few facts:
- "the team does not want any users commenting negative feedback here" is simply not true, and this thread is a proof of that. Constructive feedback, positive or negative, is always welcome. However, there is a big difference between such feedback and venting frustration, spamming, and similar practices.
- there are no unanswered questions on our support forums. Paying users get their questions answered within 24 working hours, and users of the free version generally get answers within 48 hours. We went so far to provide interactive remote support for many users of our free version. I would not qualify this as "such little communication with the community".
- we were bashed by a handful of users for being late with new releases. In most of the cases, they didn't even have a particular feature they were waiting for - it felt they were being rude just for the fun of it. However, this is not a big deal and we can live with it, it is just a side effect of having a popular product.
- the most common reason for these delays was our wish to fulfill as many client's requests as possible. We don't like being late, period, but it happened on a few occasions with MonoX. However, if you need something or are disappointed with any aspect of our support, you can always contact us directly. I don't think that we had a case of ignored user request, free version of not, ever. So you may want to publicly contemplate on how our support sucks, or just shoot us an e-mail if there is a problem and see what is going to happen.

Regards,

Denis

--This is great to hear!  8)

"'the team does not want any users commenting negative feedback here' is simply not true, and this thread is a proof of that. Constructive feedback, positive or negative, is always welcome. --agree with you here.

"there are no unanswered questions on our support forums. Paying users get their questions answered within 24 working hours, and users of the free version generally get answers within 48 hours. --arg, Denis   :-/  ya plucked six words and are referring to them as a phrase, out of context.   I took great care in specifying the word "recently" following the six that you quoted because you had, up until six months ago, provided some type of target/goal date, along with information on what direction the product is going in.   I was additionally very specific is describing my perception of little communication as being within the scope of "on the state of development."   I 100% agree with you that in the arena of support topics, it is very rare that a support related question would ever go without response for more than a day or two.

"we were bashed by a handful of users for being late with new releases. --I see it everywhere I go.   There is always one or two of those in a community.   To re-iterate though, I think the core of this thread isn't to knock your company for not releasing in September, but rather to bring awareness to the need for the improvement specifically in roadmap & release schedule communication that you advised is coming.

"the most common reason for these delays was our wish to fulfill as many client's requests as possible. We don't like being late, period, but it happened on a few occasions with MonoX. --Again here, it sounds as though you are lumping some comments or discussions that may have occurred outside of this thread in with your thoughts.   Re-reading this thread, I don't see any comments eluding to a thought that there is any deficiency in your availability within the Support forum on technical issues around available code.
thanks.
