14) I'd expect the site header and footer to be editable webparts too. Should I edit those by hand somewhere in the folder?

15) at admin console, when I click "Files", "Users", "Roles" I see that page title (shown as tab title in recent browsers) show corresponding title, but for "Pages" I see "ClipFlair - PageAdmin1" (note that "ClipFlair - " is the page prefix I've set at advanced options of MonoX installer)

16) I can right click a page in admin console / Pages and select to Manage Templates where I can select from available templates of current theme/skin. It would be nice if I could also edit the templates content using the WYSIWYG editor included in the portal instead of having to use some external tool. Else it could maybe have some footnote there on where one can find those templates to edit and suggest tool (e.g. Visual Web Developer or WebMatrix) they could use

17) not sure if such functionality exists, but if [16] was available it would be nice to be able to export such customizations as a theme to import in other MonoX installation

18) I tried to self-register a new user and it said some error occured. Then logged-in as admin and I saw the user in the users list and activated it. Do I have to search for log files in the installation folder or can I see the logs from inside the admin console? (preferably via a text area that highlights that text and allows one to do free text search etc.- a separate tab to show the log as table would also be nice ;-)

19) I see a reset failed login attempts button under users list (applied to currently selected user [afaik can't do multiple user selection using SHIFT key or preferably a checkbox column placed 1st in the left]), but in the table there's no column to list the number of failed login attempts so it's strange to have that button there. Probably a column to show the count of failed login attempts should be added there (sortable preferably to see users with high failed login counts easily)

20) If I log-in as admin and go to admin console, then logout, I go to http://MYWEBSITEHERE/MonoX/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fMonoX%2fMonoX%2fAdmin%2fDefault.aspx. The issue is that at that URL once you try to log-in with a non-admin login it tries after that to take you to admin console again which results in:

21) If at admin console / Pages, I select "Show in navigation" checkbox for many pages, some of them end-up showing over the MonoX logo (default test site template) before wrapping some to an other row

22) If I select "Show in navigation" for the Login page, then I see it on the top menu, but visiting it always shows log-in UI even if I'm already logged-in. I can use the UI to log-in to other account (probably auto logs me out from previous account but this is not obvious, would prefer to show log-out option there or say that you're already logged-in as ... and let you know that if you log-in with other credentials you'll get logged out from other account). Also I'd like it if it was automatically saying "Logout" at the top menu instead of always say "Login" for that page when I'm logged-in already (even better it could have page option to say "Logout USERNAME" on the page title [shown on the top navigation menu] when you're logged-in with USERNAME - I guess that should be localizable via some string like "Logout {1}")

Hi,

first of all I want to thank you for the extensive review / feedback, we really do appreciate it. I'll try to answer and explain everything you mentioned here step by step, so let's go:

1. Good point, we will add the administrator password option and label to feature request list.
2. Yes there is an edit button on the profile, we will check with the design department if we can do something about it in our new MonoX Demo template that will be published along with the MonoX V5
3. We had similar request so we have something on our schedule for this
4. Unfortunately yes, although we have this covered by the new MonoX Template so V5 should look better
5. Generic message will be fixed soon, User profile removal is on our schedule but I'm not sure for what version
6. We will fix that bug
7. We will review this
8. We will do similar thing for all significant actions
9. We have the property editor sorting on our list so it will be implemented in one of the upcoming releases
10. This is sample module so we have put it under there and not in the default MonoX module gallery
11. We will implement confirmation in the HTML Editor
12. We will review this
13. I'll get back to you on this
14. Unfortunately yes at this point you will need to change it manually, in next version this should be covered by new template
15. Bug, it will be fixed
16. Nice suggestion, we will probably shoot for WYSIWYG editor but we need to check the ASP.NET limitations regarding the compilation etc.
17. We have this on the schedule
18. You probably didn't set the smtp mail server, as for the error logs you need to investigate them manually
19. Yes, good point
20. This is normal built-in ASP.NET functionality so we didn't change anything around that. In most cases this wouldn't happen to ordinary user but to admins and they should be aware of this
21. We will over this with the new template as well
22. Yes we can add this feature to login module, but basically these are all demo pages for the customers that have bought the source code so they can see everything behind the scenes

Thanks again for you feedback, we have logged in some nice feature requests and we hope to implement them soon.

Regards

regarding [20]:
- there can be a shared computer (say in a lab), where an admin logs-in to check/fix something and then logs out and leaves it at the login screen. Next user who tries to log-in will fail since it will try to log-in back to admin console instead of logging in to home page
- there are many times where you may enter as admin, config something and log out to log-in as standard user and check out how it behaves for them. You get then bitten by this issue. My experience from phpBB and other systems is that the login screen always logs you in to the home page. Admin can then press the link to take them to the admin console if they wish

btw, I don't see why admins [and other users] should expect to be taken back to the page they were before after they log-out and log-in again. Moreover I see it as a bit of a privacy leak, in that after you've logged out one can see at which page in the system you were just by glancing at the URL on the address-bar (thinking of machines on a lab or even on an internet cafe).

Moreover there may be various levels of admin-ship, that is suppose I have some protected page and the moderator or group admin (not somebody skilled as an admin, he may be a teacher in a lab), logs-in to it and then logs out. Then user tries to log in with their credentials and the system tries to take them to that page and fails.

A trick could be to store a hidden field (not in the address bar) in the login page (after taken there by a logout) the id of the previous user and when they log-in with that same id (after resolution of the internal user id from the social login they may use to authenticate), then the-page-I-was-before is used, else it's ignored and user goes to portal home page.

Anyway, I'd prefer to be able to turn off that ASP.net behaviour, seems like something that will cause user frustration in lab /reusable-stations scenarios

regardign [22], is there a way a page can change it's title dynamically (register for a system event [the user successful login and succesful logout ones] and rename itself accordingly (e.g. change it's title to "Log out" when you've logged-in ok and change to "Log in" when user has logged-out ok), plus have the system register for property changes of it [name change] to update the UI) or does it register itself once and then its code gets executed only when you visit it
