It would be nice if MonoX had integrated URL shortening service. I imagine a page where one can enter any URL from the specific MonoX installation only (for security reasons that should be the default, but maybe could let admin change that and allow shortening any web URL) and get back a short URL (that would be kept in the db). Optionally they should be able to provide some (not already used) word for the ending part of the short url instead of getting an automatic number/word for it

Shortening/Redirect should work like how tinyurl.com works that is. Would be nice to have a Copy button too to copy to clipboard (but not sure if one can do that to work on most browsers without Flash or Silverlight)

Also, together with Share buttons maybe option to get a short URL would be nice (would take them to the url shortening page with the URL they were before already filled in for them to shorten [after they optionally give there a shortname for the url])

---

btw, I've found that other services like bit.ly don't work when accessing the short URLs from Silverlight apps, probably some security issue with how they do the redirection, whereas urls generated using tinyurl.com work fine in Silverlight
e.g. http://studio.clipflair.net/?activity=http://tinyurl.com/ClipFlairTutorial where the tinyurl.com url points to http://gallery.clipflair.net/activity/Tutorial.clipflair.zip is loading OK (whereas with bit.ly url it wouldn't). Of course you can just write http://studio.clipflair.net/?activity=Tutorial in our system, but this is not the point

Thanks for the suggestions and Silverlight heads-up. We will take this into consideration.
