Hello,

If when Installing MonoX a new database is created, is it possible in a later stage to easily move older content (such as articles, blog posts, etc) that was entered for years during my own older CMS into MonoX? Otherwise I will end up with having 2 databased with content in two different locations, schemas and systems.

And is it possible (or even recommended) to combine my own database at some stage with the MonoX database?

Kind regards,
Noy.

Hi Noy,
Moving content from another CMS would require developing quite a few custom SQL scripts. It is possible, but probably not trivial, depending on the type of the content you would like to import. However, it may be much better to have it imported than to combine two databases.

Hi Denis,

By imported, do you mean to move the old content into MonoX? I suppose I will have to examine which one makes more sense after I see the MonoX database structure in detail. I have knowledge of SSIS so I might take this route and prepare suitable scripts if it proves to be better at the end.

Thank you for your answer.

Regards,
Noy

Yes. I think that it would be more work to write functionality that would query the old database, and additionally it would not make too much sense to have articles and blog posts in two separate places.
DB structures for MonoX blog posts, documents and similar content items are rather straighforward. Let us know if you need any help with that.
