Removing existing web parts (Mono Support )

Is there any way to remove existing web parts? For example, I want to remove Events web part from the dashboard page. The options I have either to minimize the web part through Portal Admin or Set visible to be false. Which option is better in terms of performance?

Hi,

It's better to sets it's visibility to false because there is no rendering on the client,
