After receiving so many notifications from this thread, I realize that you are spending a lot of time formulating your thoughts. Don't take it too personally. We all hear you, but reserve the right to disagree. However, I don't think that you are doing any favors for the project itself; if I was a new user reading your comments, I would conclude that is no good, which is not right. I don't think that it will make any difference to the development team either, and will not cause the new release to be published earlier. It may only cause them to be more conservative next time.
Slips happen, that's the fact of life. My reasoning is: you have a great product, and you got it for free. From what I understand, it will take just a couple of days to get the upgrade - you'll have to live with it.
