site administrators and group creators have "Search people" control in the bottom right corner when they go to a certain group. The rest of the users are able to access any public group on their own if they desire so.

there is no role as group creators - if its just admin then it is not a user friendly features because users would also like to invite other users and friends to join a group - An admin cannot send invitation to each and every user to join a group, you know ?

This feature currently works only as previously described, one either needs to be an administrator or the one that created the group. There are no other out-of-the box functionalities for group invitations in MonoX at this moment.

You can either request a new feature through the roadmap to be implemented sometime in the future or you could write a custom control of your own that would do exactly what you need it to do.

Just to add one more thing here, if group is a private group then Search People WebPart will automatically invite members to group and not just join them, but other than that, as Tihomir stated, there are no out-of-the box functionality.
