Is there any way to manually override the settings set in the SASS files?
I understand the benefits of using the new methods, but installing Ruby, Compass, etc.. and re-compiling seems like a lot of work just to change one background color.

Hello!

Overriding the settings file does without compiling using Ruby and Compass is not possible. The recommended way of modifying the theme is to set up the Ruby and Compass environment. If that's an issue, you can always override the pregenerated .css files to match your style.

You should only be careful not to run the Ruby compiler later and override your static .css changes.

Regards.
